Guest Post with Claire Ashley: 5 Casual Style Tips for Men!

Causal Styling Tips For Men

All info provided by Claire Ashley herself & in her own words!

As I sit back sipping on my evening tea while watching a reality show on Style 360, I have this sudden urge of writing an article on 5 Casual Style Tips For Men. I want to make this as productive as possible, as I believe that there is a dire need for all men out there to read it thoroughly.

Pulling off maturity in dressing to reflect masculinity and respect in attire requires brain power.  Let's get to see what could be the top 5 casual style tips for all the men out there. If you want to be spotted in public as fashionista, this article is for you then!

Graphic Tees are not for men:

You can dress in casual jackets but graphic tees must not be our pick. Men should be very clear that dressing casual doesn't mean they start dressing up like teenagers. The graphic tees teenagers wear isn't supposed to be worn by men, unless you are a teenager yourself.

Try reflecting maturity and masculinity in your attire. One way of doing so is by wearing solid, one-color t-shirts or striped tees. This is how you can pull off the "David Beckham" look.

Jackets, Coats, and Blousons (Blouse Jacket):

Here are mentioned some of the trendy things real fashionista men wear these days- something you might not have but probably should as they are the IN thing. These include pea coats, overcoats, blousons, duffle coats (attractive for their uniqueness). Barbour jackets, and leather jackets.

If you have a blouson, with a narrow waist, inspired by WWII field jacket, you can pull off a casual look in a classy way. All you would be needing is a one-color T-shirt with a blouson and you are good to rock your evening at the club!

When the winters hit your town, you would need classy overcoats which not only prevent you from freezing to death, but would also give you the look which will make you look cool to females.

The most followed street style is Bandanas around your neck, tied neatly. All you need is a cherry red, cobalt blue or monochrome bandana, and you are good to go with a boyishly brilliant look for the day.

A plain white T-shirt with a cherry red bandana will add color to your attire, making it attractive. Just make sure your know is rightly done.

Angular V-neck Sweaters:

V-neck sweaters were trendy in 2016, but in 2017, these sweaters have lost the game. The regular straight v-necks are dated and obsolete. You should better head to the stores and grab angular V's for your sweaters that will make you look fresh in winters 2017.

Footwear for Brave Men:

The tendencies are trend for shoes in 2017 are for the brave and mods. Shoes are preferred to be in leather, felt or suede; the colors being limited to gray, black, green, red, brown and maroon. Some designers even make shoes with floral prints. Makes sure your soles give off heavy appearance.

Bell Sleeved Beauties!

If you haven't noticed already but a HUGE trend this season is bell sleeves! The perfect item for the spring and summer weather. I am a fannnnn! Seriously I want to say at least 99.99% of  female retail stores, well stores that sell women clothing in general to be honest have this on there shelves and racks. To name a few for sure Loft has tons, Old navy, and even Forever 21

What I love is that this isn't something that you only see in higher end retailers or just in a specific geographical area, you know what I mean? This trend goes across all parts from the wealthy to the average household and I love it.

LOFT has this trend on lock for sure I have seen tons of different bell-sleeved tops in the store and online. They are just perfect if you're looking for one. Don't miss out, I'm sure these babies are flying off the racks. Here's a Must Have Monday where I mention there bell-sleeved top!

You can get a less expensive version but the same look here at Forever21

I know us gents can't sport this trend clearly but hey maybe someday you never know with the way fashion trends and styles are going. Male bell-tops? Yes ? No? What are your thoughts let me know in the comments... this should get interesting lol.

You know I love a good stand out moment! This will definitely let you have that moment for sure. I would actually love to see this on some of you gals! Let me know if you wear it!

Tumblr Tuesday: Favorite Pics This Week 35

The way these photos just gel together! I'm #obsessed, and yes I just used a hashtag... get over it lol.

I just love this kind of minimalist/chic'/edgy aesthetic that it has.

It's giving me preppy vibes with the checkered vans and came backpack+ regal elegance with the red roses and classic chic' with the denim Tommy Hilfiger jackets. Which I need in my wardrobe like pronto.

I love a great story when it comes to photos andI think there is always something to be said in photos and that every picture has its own meaning and definition behind it.

For Example:
The rose is considered to be a symbol of balance, love, beauty. The beauty of the flower expresses hope and new beginnings. It's contrasted by thorns which symbolizes defense, loss and thoughtfulness.

Each colored rose has a different meaning to it as well which is really cool to me.

Must Have Monday

We are already halfway through March! Can you believe this!? Time goes by so fast.

I love a good denim shirt if y'all didn't know lol. I think they are just a staple item in any man or women's wardrobe. The thing that really attracted me to this shirt is the wash, its in a beautiful acid wash material. I love that because it gives it an edgier look and feel! To top things off its over 50% off! Was $34 damn dollars now only $17.99! That is a STEAL! Go ahead and pick one up.

Okay so I wear glasses so you won't ever catch me wearing sunnies, unless you see my transition lenses in the sun lol. That doesn't mean I don't love them. Plus you all still can buy them if you want, unless you're like me then join the party. #teamcantsee A big trend this summer/season is the round sunglasses and mirrored sunglasses. These pair happen to have both trends going on! So you should definitely pick up this bomb pair of glasses and prepare to #slay for the summer.

Since we're on accessories.. lets talk about Macbook's. So I finally bought myself a mac like a year ago and it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. But anyways.. I have yet to get a case for it and I want to preserve it as long as I can because I don't know the next time I'm going to have one lol. Just being honest here.... I'm  sure y'all know my obsession and love for marble print.. if not take a look at my home inspo page lol. So of course my Mac has to stay with the theme so this Marble print macbook case is the perfect accessory! I mean come on am I right, or am I right?

One Blazer 3 Different Ways

On today's post I will be taking one item, and styling it in three different ways. From a more casual look, to something a tad more business professional. The item I'm styling today is my favorite blazer!

Let's get into the first look:

Business Casual

With the first look I wanted to go with something on the more "laid back" side of things, so I chose a business casual look. That of my favorite things about a blazer is that it's so versatile! My favorite type of blazer is the one that you can take from day-to-night with no effort on your end lol.

That is exactly what I love about blazers in general and the blazer that I own because I can do exactly that with it. Plus you save money because its not like you need a different blazer for every different occasion ya know what I mean? Now hey I'm not saying don't have multiple ones for different occasions because you can definitely do that if you would like. I'm just saying wouldn't it be better to just have 1 or 2? Now that's just me... even though I have 3 lol.

Formal Attire

Okay formal looks would definitely have to my absolute favorite way to style a blazer. That may be like umm duh Josh blazers are more formal anyway. That being said some people actually like a more laid back casual look.

When shopping for a blazer there are certain things that I focus on:

 1) Is it something that I can dress up & dress down?
 2) How does it fit? Too tight, loose?
3) The color, can it be a versatile one or more specific.
4) Of course last but definitely not least is the price

Once I narrow that down I come to the decision to if I'm going to purchase it or not.

With this blazer I was sold fairly quickly actually. It met all my standards and I just fell in love with it and like I said out of the three blazers I own this is definitely my favorite one.

There's just something that I love about being all dressed up in slacks, blazer, button up, bow-tie etc. I don't know maybe its just me?

Casual Friday

When I'm for a more casual look and wearing a blazer the very first thing I do is grab a pair of jeans, that's one of the easiest ways to take that fancy blazer and drop it down a notch. I also like to go for a more casual blazer as well. Don't pull out your mink blazer, with fur on the hem, and then try and take it to look more casual. It just wont work because no matter what you wear as bottoms or underneath the blazer its still going to look dressy because the blazer is so fancy ya know.

Here are 3 different ways to take your look and turn it more casual.

1. Pair an oxford button up underneath your blazer. Oxford shirts can be more dressy and causal as well it just depends on the look you're going for. We are obviously going more casual so here's my tip. Be more casual on the bottom with a pair of nice denim jeans and dress shoes = perfect solution.

2. Try going for a polo shirt, like these found at jcpenny, instead of grabbing the button up shirt. This make everything much more relaxed and easy going. You can always make things look nice without having to go to the "extreme" if that makes since....

3. This next way I'm going to tell you about is something that I've always wanted to consider doing but have never got around to actually doing it. Pairing a nice v-neck tee shirt underneath your blazer. It has a distinct chic look to it. Definitely go with a v-neck instead of an o-neck tee because the v shape looks better with the lapels on the jacket. Now you can literally find a v-neck tee anywhere. Here's some places to consider: Here, here, here, and even here

Below are 3 diagrams showing the different styles of jacket you may want to go for depending on the look you're trying to establish.

Tumblr Tuesday: Favorite Pics This Week 34

Happy Tuesday

I hope everyone has been having a great week so far. It has been a busy week already for me... Between work, the blog, and my social life its a lot lol.

Btw what are you all's thoughts on the way the blog setup has been..? Let me know leave me a comment on this post or leave me a note in the sidebar.

Let's get into this week's Tumblr Tuesday shall we?

Just wanted to throw a little humor in there lol... I would totally wear this shirt to be honest

Y'all already know I'm obsessed with blush tones and that whole minimal aesthetic. If you haven't seen my new Home Inspo page that I created for the blog please head on over there and check it out. I crested this page to share what I want my home and decor to be like. Anyway you're probably wondering why the hell im mentioning this at this time but I'm trying to explain to to you all how much I love the blush tones and nudes/minimal aesthetic.

I think there is something so gorgeous about that palette because you can honestly never go wrong with a nude palette. There's nothing to overbearing or too "boring" so its just perfect.

I've mentioned this least I think I have? But I definitely want to incorporate more of this color into my wardrobe. I know some of you may be like "why would you wanna do that"? Well let me tell you why. There are no gender boundaries anymore in fashion especially when it comes to color. You can find the same color in the mens department than in the women's most of the time.

Well guys I am going to end this post here I've written this kind of late. Its currently 10:30 and I'm exhausted lol so until next time...

Must Have Monday

Oh my god these cuffed denim overall shorts are EVERYTHING! They look beyond comfortable and i love that they're in a lighter washed denim instead of dark denim. I have been on the hunt for another pair of overalls I've gotten tired of the ones I already own. i can just imagine all the ways that I would style these as well as all the different seasons they can be worn in.

So I just recently shopped at Old navy after it being literally forever since I had ever even stepped into one and saw some great items that I would definitely pick up. For example these cute shorts! I love a great pair of shorts especially if they're colored. Who likes a boring pair of bottoms? I sure the hell don't... These are so adorable as well and I can't wait to style them now that we'll be approaching summer soon! You just can't pass up a deal and cute clothing item you just can't.

Sidenote: BTW I hope all you spring breakers are enjoying your time off! Live it up while you can because it will be over before ya know it... trust me. Whose going out of town? Drinking? Well whatever you're doing let me know in the comments!

Now that I've gotten that out the way back to business....

Speaking of spring break and summer this jacket from Forever 21 is screaming it! This bright yellow is currently blinding me... and its on a computer screen that's how you know it's bright. Anyway, that being said I want it lol. Look at me criticize it then say I want it get it together Josh. But yes I really like it and actually love everything about it. What really sold me on it was that its a bomber jacket! Y'all know I'm a fan of a banging bomber jacket. So this will definitely be added to the bag at checkout.

Well thats all for today... as always much love ♥︎ I'll catch y'all tomorrow for..... well you now what tomorrow is I don't have to tell you its the same post every damn Tuesday lol

Tumblr Tuesday: Favorite Pics This Week 33

It's the color of the season! Marigold! Its a beautiful gold/yellow-ish color that just goes great with a lot of items and perfect for this time of year. I'm sure if you step into any retail store you will be seeing this color somewhere. So stay on trend this season and pick up an item or few in this gorgeous color we call marigold.

Okay I'm obsessed with this second photo! From the way the lighting and makeup hits the skin to the gorgeous bold flower in her hair. I think there so much artistry in fashion and beauty in general. You can never go wrong like seriously come on you really can't. By the way can you say highlight on fleek! Did the sun land on her face!? It's just blinding me lol

Like this, Comment there, I Follow Them Everywhere

By the title of this post I'm sure you're thinking what the hell is this going to be about? Lol I totally understand.

Today I wanted to do something different for you all and share some of my favorite Instagram accounts!

Don't be surprised as most of them that I mention are bloggers as well lol

I'll try to keep it not too long because trust me this post can go on forever,  there are so many favorites of mine

I created my Instagram a few years ago when I was in high school.. or was it jr high? Idk it's been a while all I can say is, I've had it for a while now. After many changes, unfollows, blocking people and making my instagram more fashion and "blog" based I wanted to tell you all who I obsess over lol. I follow plenty of bloggers, designers, stylists, you-tubers, friends of course etc.

Whether its there aesthetic/theme, there style, or just because I'm a fan, some of these accounts mentioned are definitely ones to watch out for. There aesthetic is perfection and it really draws you in to their page.

Let's Get Into My Favorite Accounts

  • First on the list is the blush queen herself! Fellow blogger and stylist Kasey of I was immediately obsessed with her and her blog when I came across her Instagram page on the "people to follow" page on instagram. I immediately drawn into her style, classy look, and of course all the blush beauty going on.
  • Courtney Kerr! Ugh there is so much I could say. She is truly my inspiration and a overall great person. I found Courtney & her blog  a long time ago. She's actually one of the very first blogs I started reading back when I never even knew there was professional bloggers lol. A Dallas girl with impeccable style and class. I love how quirky she is and her bubbly personality. You just need to experience her for yourself to understand.

  • With her clean and crisp pictures I just knew I had to be following her! Mackenzie, or @macmac95 Instagram immediately drew me in to follow her. I found her Instagram from another blogger's page and I have been a fan of hers ever since.

  • He's a YouTuber & I'm pretty sure he qualifies as being "Instagram famous". Damon Rodgers is a college football player who I first found randomly on social media, I first started to really notice and follow him when he was making vine videos. Check out a vine compilation video here.. from way back then. Hilarious, and extremely down to earth I always looked up to him as inspiration.I now follow him on Instagram, snapchat, subscribed to his YT channel. So I guess you could say I'm a fan. Definitely recommend following if you want a little inspiration and a lot of laughter.

  • From his impeccable style, to his amazing aesthetic and photography Justin Livingston just captures you when you see his work. I know thats what happened to me when I first discovered him and his blog I have been hooked ever since. Justin is truly one of my favorite male bloggers. He just seems like one of those people you can always talk to and have a lot of fun with. I would love to work with him someday.. I guy can always dream right?

  • Yet another blogger whose aesthetic just slays me every time! I am obsessed. Marianna Hewitt. From her Instagram feed to her blog Life With Me everything is so polished and well thought out. She is known for her minimal and blush aesthetic. You definitely know Marianna when you see her or her content.

  • Anybody else been obsessed with Ashley since those high school musical days a looonngg time ago!? That is so me. Its funny because Ashley is nothing like her character when she portrayed "Sharpay Evans".  Fast forward now she has a fantastic Youtube channel and her cosmetic line called "Illuminate Cosmetics by Ashley"Check out the website here and get some products!

  • 1/2 of the Harris Twins Jamison is a huge inspiration for me. From his views on life to his amazing and unique sense of fashion. You should see his twin brother Jonta' as well is just as stylish! A double dose of fashion, it doesn't get any better.
Now like I said I can go on forever with my favorite Instagram accounts lol. I don't want you all to be sitting here reading and scrolling through this post all day.. unless you want to?
