Travel Essentials

We are all going to go on a vacation or travel somewhere in our life. Whether that be out of the country or to the state that's next to us. There are travel essentials you should pack with you, they will come in handy. Today I'm here to help break that down and give you all some guidance.

Each item will be broken down into categories:

  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Body scrub/lotion
  • Face scrub/lotion
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Moisturizer
  • Razor
  • Small Towel (you never know)
  • Perfume/Cologne
  • Feminine Hygiene (Ladies)
Try to invest in travel sized products or containers to put all your gels and lotions into to maximize your suitcase space (Be sure to check your airline guidelines for carrying liquids)

Now this can vary depending on the kind of person you are. Everyone wears makeup differently. Some people need more than others, etc so it just depends on yourself personally.
  • Primer/Moisturizer
  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Eye Shadow (You may want to invest in an interchangeable palette, so you can bring all the shadows you want, without all the extra weight)
  • Eyeliner (Make sure waterproof)
  • Mascara (Again, make sure waterproof)
  • Lipstick/Lip Gloss
  • Lip balm/chap-stick (These are lifesavers especially when the place that you're visiting has a colder climate)

Come on, we have to make sure the locks are looking silky smooth and ready to be touched (or not lol)
  • Have a brush/comb
  • Hair Serum
  • Heat Protectant spray
  • Heat styling tools (Ex: Straightener/Curler)
  • Hair Ties (For when the wind wants to be a jerk or it's way too hot outside)
  • Bobby Pins (Hold onto these like your life depends on it ladies lol) Take my word for it.

The Basics/Must Haves:

I recommend bringing at least a couple of each one of these items. You never know what you're going to do or what may come up while you're on your trip. Try to also keep things in a neutral palette so you can pair stuff with everything!

Lets get into this list...
  • Underwear and socks/stockings (This should be first in the suitcase) You can't go around with no underwear.. come on.
  • Camis (Ladies this is an ideal item for layering underneath other things.)
  • T-shirts
  • Flannel/Chambray Shirts
  • Jackets
  • Sweaters
  • Coats
  • Jeans
  • Shorts
  • Track Pants/Workout Pants just in case there is a gym or you want to work out. Or maybe to just be comfortable in.
  • Swimsuit
Now if you plan on dressing it up a little:

Maybe the family/yourself decides to go out and eat at a fancy restaurant in the area, or friends want to go out. Don't worry, I've got you covered!
  • Blouses
  • Trousers
  • Dresses/Skirts
  • Slacks/Capris (gentlemen)
  • Heels/Sandals
  • Dress Shoes

You can't have an outfit without accessories right!? It's time to spice things up!
  • Hats (This is me 100%)
  • Scarves
  • Jewelry

Comfort and style!? My-oh-my this may be a challenge. It can be hard to be cute and comfortable sometimes..
  • Slip on shoes (perfect for a plane ride and/or going through security check)
  • Flip Flops
  • Converse
  • Casual Boots
  • Sneakers

Carry On Items

Don't let boredom take you down!

  • Large comfortable bag (backpacks/handbag)
  • Travel documents (passport/ticket) Please don't forget these, it has happened to too many people.
  • Wallet
  • Phone/Table/iPod/Laptop(We need music)
  • Sunglasses
  • Tissues (life savers)
  • Reading Materials (magazines/books)
  • Notebook (start a travel journal) You'll enjoy looking back at the memories

These items can seriously make or break a trip:
  • Electronics (cell phone/laptop/chargers)
  • Power Point adapters (depends on where you're going)
  • Money
  • Extra Suitcase/Travel Bag (That way you can bring more back home with you then when you left)
I hope this post comes in handy for you all! Think of it next time you're about to go out of town and don't know what to pack. You never know what you need until you don't have it, so just be safe.

Recap 11 trends for 2016

This year's trends are...

Green Tea: Not only has green tea consistently been climbing the charts since the early 2000's, but it's been growing for a good reason. Green Tea is generally healthier than other beverages in its category. It contains less caffeine, and most importantly there are so many uses and variations of the product allowing the possibility for you to come up with the new product ideas that incorporate green tea or green tea extract.
Matcha: Yet another tea on the list, matcha tea has become an increasingly popular variation of green tea. It is considered to be a premium product. Ultimately is a very high-end green tea that has been ground into a fine powder. Since you actually consume the whole leaf as oppose to just steeping it, you get a much higher concentrate of good things in the tea. Much like green tea this product can be used as an ingredient in many other products.

Beard Oil:Beard Oil has been trending for the last few years and it appears that the trend is continuing. Lately, the market has become pretty saturated with a lot of new companies but there's likely still room for those that get a little more creative and tighten their focus to serve narrow niches within the beard grooming category.
Coconut Oil Based Products: Considered healthy and functional, you can use coconut oil for everything from cooking to making your own soaps, toothpaste, deodorant, sunscreen, to even improving sleep. Some say it can even prevent Alzheimers. Click here for 101 other ways to use coconut oil

Tea based detoxes: Detoxes fit into the health and nutrition category and because of that there's always a new trend in detoxing. Right now, the detox trend is tea. Tea based detoxes aren't just trending, they're "Instagram famous". I'm sure you've seen them plastered all over your feed. While some of these products advertised may have additional ingredients in them to help you "detox" most of them are just plain tea.

Drones & Accessories: If you watch the news, you likely have heard about drones. Whether it's about the military using them for missions, Amazon using them to deliver their products to homes, or civilians playing with them as a hobby, drones were huge this year. Looking into 2016 it appears they will only be getting bigger for sure.
Nootropics: Also referred to as "smart drugs" that help you focus better, think clearer, and work harder were big this year. Popular faces like Tim Ferris introduced many people to this relatively new term in 2015 and it looks like that is just adding fuel to the fire for 2016. Once thing to keep in mind is that nootropics are mostly unregulated market at the moment. You'll want to carefully consider this as a product and do your research before blindly selling unregulated pulls to the hopeful public. You can see more about it here on their website as well as the different kinds.
Adult Coloring Books: Okay now I don't know if I'm excited about this or weirded out? Honestly, though I would definitely be involved in this trend. Apparently, coloring books made for adults are really popular on Amazon's bestselling books list. Books with calming, meditative and spiritual themes appeal to adults looking to unwind. What do you think? Let's sit down and color while we think about it.

LED Lighting/ Led Flashlights: This industry has massive oppurtunity and the market is huge. In the coming decade, nearly all lighting will eventually be converted to LED lighting. It's much more enenrgy effecient, lasts exponentially longer than regular bulbs, is a lot more controllable and safer for the environment.

Niche Specific, Print-On-Demand Apparel: 2015 might be known by historians as the year of ecommerce apparel business. I don't see this slowing down at all this year. In face-I see it increasing. Companies like Printful are making it increasingly easy to create an apparel brand. As they continue to increase the number of ecommerce platforms they interrate with along with the apparel and customization options they offer, creating your own custom apparel brand is only going to become more popular.

Coffee Scrubs: Last but definitely not least on the list are coffee scrubs. I have seen these a whole lot and I have been dying to try them. This trend of coffee scrubs was started by a guy named Frank with a bunch of other players entering the market closely after. This a class and smart example of someone taking a current product on the market and re-purposing it for another market. To order some of your own click here! 25 Tips to Surviving Freshman Year of College

Thanks to for providing the information in this post.

Surviving in college can sound like a very hard thing to do, and let me tell you, as someone whose in college... IT IS. You just have to be prepared and know what you're getting yourself into. I know there are many of you that will be starting your freshman year of college soon and I'm here to help.

Surviving College.. The Break Down

1) Make sure you go to all orientations!
I know it can be a headache going to all these different colleges and doing tours, etc. It's okay! The faster you learn your way around your school's campus, (once you've decided where you're going) things will get much easier.

2) Get to know your roommate & suite mates
The people you live with most of whom are going through similar experiences and trials as you, are your main safety. Not just for this one year but for all throughout college. You may end up changing or getting a new roommate by the end of the first semester or you could stay for all four years. Just take the time to get to know all your first-year students.

3) Get Organized!
Now I seriously can't stress this one enough. Honestly, this should be the first thing to worry about because after a while things will start to pile up. In high school teachers tend to lead you through due dates and homework. Professors will help you a little on this but you're mainly on your own as far as remember dates and deadlines.

4) Find the ideal place for you to study
This can be your dorm room or a cozy corner in the library, but I think it's always great when you have a specific place for study time. Ir also helps to avoid as many distractions as possible.

6) Become a pro on course requirements and due dates
Professors spend tons of hours preparing course syllabus and calendars so that you will know exactly what is expected of you, and when. One of the lamest excuses a student could use is "I didn't know it was due today" because I'm pretty sure it has been posted and talked about everywhere.

7) Meet with your professors
There are really only positives to vising your professor outside of the classroom. This will really come in to play when you need some extra help later on in the semester. Professors schedule their office hours for the sole purpose of meeting with students-take advantage of that time.

8) Seek a balance
College life is a mixture of social and academic happenings. Don't tip the balance to far on either side. You want to be able to study hard, so you can play hard later.

9)  Get to know your academic adviser
This is the person who will help you with course conflicts, adding or dropping courses, schedule of classes for future semesters, deciding on majors and minors. This person, male/female is a key resource for you and should be the person you turn to with any academic issues or conflicts. Don't be afraid of requesting another adviser if you don't like the one you were assigned.

10) Get involved on campus
A big problem for a lot of new students is that they get a combination of homesickness and a feeling of not quite belonging. A solution to that would be to consider joining a select group. Now be careful and don't go overboard, and join every association and club. You will drain yourself and you wont have time for work. Getting involved is a great way to make friends, learn new skills, and feel more connected to your school.

11) Strive for good grades
This one is pretty obvious. While good grades may not have come naturally to you in high school, you will have to learn them in college. That means setting some goals for yourself and then making sure you work as hard as you can to achieve those goals.

12) Take advantage of the study resources on campus
Just about all colleges have learning labs and tutors available. If you're having some troubles, these resources are another tool available to you. Another great tool would be to form study groups.

13) Make time for you
Be sure you set aside some time and activities that help you relax and take the stress out of your day or week. Whether it's enlisting yoga techniques, watching your favorite television shows, or writing in a journal, be good to yourself.

15) Take responsibility for yourself and your actions
Don't look to place the blame on others for your mistakes; own up to them and move on. Being an adult means taking responsibility for everything that happens to you.

16) Make connections with students in your classes
Try making a new friend in every one of your classes the first week of school. It will help expand your network of friends and will be a crucial part when you miss classes, they can fill you in and kep you updated.

17) Find the Career Services Office
Regardless of whether you are entering college as undeclared or have your entire life made up, seek out the wonderful professionals in your college's career services office and get started on planning, preparing, and acting on your future.

18) Don't procrastinate; prioritize your life
It may have been easy in high school to wait until the last minute to complete an assignment and still get a good grade, but that kind of stuff will definitely not work for you in college. Give yourself deadlines and stick to them.

19) Stay healthy/Eat Right
A lot of problems first-year students face can be traced back to illness that kept them away from classes for an extended period of time that led to a downward spiraling effect. Get enough sleep, take your vitamins, and eat right. If you haven't heard the jokes about college food you will soon. The "freshmen 15" is a real thing by the way. It always happens. You may be tempted to go for those extra fries or cookies. Stay healthy and avoid the dreaded extra 15 pounds by sticking to a balanced diet.

20)Learn to cope with being away from home
It's only natural that there will be times when you miss your family, even if you were one of those kids who couldn't wait to get away. Find a way to deal with those feelings, such as making a phone call or sending a message home every once in a while.

21) Stay on campus as much as possible
Whether it's homesickness, a job, or someone from home, try not to leave campus to soon or too often. The more time you spend on getting to know your campus and your new friends, the more you'll feel at home at school. Why not take advantage of all the cultural and social events that happen on campus.

22) Seek professional help when you need it
Most colleges have health and counseling centers. If you're sick or feeling isolated or depressed, take advantage of the may services these offices provide to the students. You don't have to face all the issues by yourself.

23) Keep track of your money
If you've never had to create a budget, now is the time to do so. (Seriously) Find ways to stretch your money and as best you can avoid the credit card solicitations you'll soon be receiving. The average credit card debt of college graduates is staggering.

24)Don't cut corners
College is all about learning. If you procrastinate and cram, you may still do well on tests, but you'll learn very little. Even worse don't cheat on papers and tests.

25) Be prepared to feel overwhelmed
There's a lot going in your life right now. Expect to have moments where it seems a bit too much. As a student to another student be prepared to feel unprepared. The trick is knowing  that you're not the only one feeling this way.

I hope this post helps someone out as they go through there years in college. If I help one person I have done my job. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any further tips or if I helped you out!

Tumblr Tuesday: Favorite Pics This Week 14

Isn't this post just screaming royalty! Lol it's very girly for sure.

That's the point everyone.

I wanted to keep this post very fresh and "lively" and I thought that pink and white would do just that. I don't know about you but I think this post definitely turned out great I love it. It's all "good vibes" lol get it, good vibes.

No but seriously I think people (men in particular) shouldn't be afraid of this color and the meaning behind it. People automatically assume girl/female when in reference to the color pink and we need to think beyond that. One of my blogger friends Justin Petrie of "Define Your" explains that his inspiration for his blog was the color pink and he explains what I just talked about on his blog.

I'm definitely not afraid of color and neither should anyone else, break barriers and step outside of your comfort zone. Trust me there will be many many doors that will open unto you.

Well until next time my loves.. Remember to always stay trendy!

Must Have Monday

Yes it's Must Have Monday again! Gosh doesn't it seem like these weeks are going by faster and faster.

I have another iPhone case on today's list. You all know as I have mentioned in the past how much I love cases. Not just any iPhone case, but clear ones to be exact. I switch them up on the daily lol. I prefer clear cases like the one above. Since I have the rose gold iPhone they are better because you get to see the actual color of the phone. I want to be able to show it off. I always rely on my good friend amazon when I'm looking for a great case and a great price.

Now lets get into a little fashion shall we? Since we are in the winter months, (you can hardly tell with this crazy heat we still receive) I like to keep a great pair of boots. I currently own two pair, a brown one and a black one. Who says a third will hurt? Aldo's is my go-to place when I want another pair of shoes. Honestly half of my shoes collection is Aldo's. They always have great quality shoes and if you catch them at the right time you can get them at a spectacular price! I like a boot that can be versatile so I chose this one. Nice sole on the bottom and they seem like they'll last forever.

I swear I mention something from Forever 21 every week! The proof is in the pudding here, here, and here. Lol They are just one of my favorite stores to shop at. Whenever I am at the mall it's a must see store before I leave. This shirt though... come on, isn't it awesome! That color-blocking is so cool. This shirt has so much character to it! From the patterns, to the layering underneath I love it. I definitely want it in my wardrobe. Maybe i'll wait until it goes down some more because $61.99 is still a lot for me. (Y'all know I love a good sale.)

The All Time Best Way To Apply Foundation

(Kathryn Wirsing)
Foundation- It's the all important canvas for the rest of your makeup. You could say it's basically your "base" or "starting point". When it comes to technique everyone looks at it differently. Between what products to use and how to use them. It's something that you've got to get down to a science in order to achieve that flawless, yet miraculously natural-looking skin.

Step 1: Remove Makeup and cleanse

(Kathryn Wirsing)
Treat the skin with a cotton pad and a cleansing water like Bioderma Crealine H20 ($36.00) which can be used as both a makeup remover and way to prep the skin.

Helpful Tip: It's best to make sure the skin is completely clean and prepped before applying moisturizer. Even if you aren't wearing makeup this sensitive cleaning water almost always removes leftover makeup, dirt, and grime from the skin.

Step 2: Moisturize to Prime the skin

(Kathryn Wirsing)
After skin is cleansed properly, use a rich nourishing moisturizer, like Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre ($16.00) to re-hydrate the skin.

Helpful Tip: It's best to warm up the cream in between your hands then press it into the skin. If you are someone whose more on the oily side, use a gel based moisturizer that is matte and apply with just your fingertips or a foundation brush.

Step 3: Apply Foundation with a foundation brush

(Kathryn Wirsing)
Pro Tip: Use a foundation brush and apply the foundation starting in the center of the face, and blend out.

When it comes to choosing a formula look for something that looks natural, has a flawless finish, and feels weightless. You can't possibly go wrong with the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($62.00)

Step 4: Gently Blend in a Rolling Motion

(Kathryn Wirsing)
Start with a damp beauty blender because it soften the sponge and won't absorb any of the product you just applied to your face.

Pro Tip: Blend the foundation with a rolling motion and press into the skin.

Step 5: Conceal Blemishes and Redness

Tap on concealer (use something that is really pigmented, like Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage to hide any blemishes or redness that's coming through.

Pro Tip: It helps to use a clean fingertip as the warmth of the hand helps blend it out.It also adds just the right amount of product to cover the blemish.

Step 6: Set

(Kathryn Wirsing)
You can set with either an translucent powder like NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder ($36.00) Using a soft, small, and natural hair brush, gently tap any excess product off then sweep the setting powder only over the areas that tend to by shiny; in between the eyebrows, down and around the nose, under the eye, and on the chin.

Pro Tip: Be sure not to over- powder! You still want your skin to actually look like skin lol.

Step 7: You're all done!

(Kathryn Wirsing)
Congratulations you are officially a glowing movie star!

Tumblr Tuesday: Favorite Pics This Week! 13

Today's Tumblr Tuesday is all about challenging the idea of masculinity. Sometimes we can get so narrow-minded on certain ideas or how a certain things/person are suppose to be. Now-a-days menswear and men in general, are starting to break the norm. I think it's absolutely beautiful to see something that is "out of the ordinary" especially in the male form. We are so quick to judge someone based off of what they wear, how they sound, etc. The first thing that comes to mind is the term "homosexual" or"gay". I mean seriously come on, we are in the year 2016 almost into 2017 and people are still doing such derogatory things.

I believe that anyone can be whoever they want to be and represent themselves however they want. Like people say all the time, it's there life and you shouldn't put a barrier on what they want to do with their lives.

Just be yourself and don't ever let anyone else define who you are as a persona and as an individual.

To be precise the exact definition of masculinity is actually: Having qualities traditionally ascribed to men, as strength and boldness. So to be fair by that definition anyone can be masculine. With this post I just wanted to break that down a little because it can get misinterpreted and misused.

One of my favorite people that I like to use as an example would be "Flash-man Wade" He is pictured in the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth photos of this post. I enjoy that he breaks these "barriers" and honestly does whatever he wants. He is clearly comfortable in his own skin and knows who he is, and I think a lot of people have a long way to go before they reach that point within themselves.

I want to end this by saying: Dare to be different and don't let anyone anything stand in your way of become who you are.

Must Have Monday

Well guys, we survived another week! Thank god right? This past weekend for me was really busy. That being said it was a TON of fun though. You have already seen a little of what went on this weekend in this post I did! It was such a fantastic time for sure. Now lets dive into this weeks post!

First up on a brand new Must have Monday is this minimalist grey trench coat from forever 21! I love this store you all know that. I always find something that I want. Fall and winter season is my favorite because I can layer up all I want and walk around with my scarf and coat on. This coat mentioned is one that I have definitely been eyeing as of lately. It has that minimalist vibe to it and it looks extremely comfortable which are two great details!

If you all didn't know now you are about to find out, but I love iPhone cases! I love to switch them up and style them differently. I swear I change mine at least three times a week. They are so much fun and they just add character to your phone while protecting it. Now if you're a fashion lover like me they are even like an accessory because you can change them up to match anything! I have been on the hunt for a really nice clear one lately and I came across this one. Let me just say that I have to get it! It's so sleek and lightweight I'm a fan.

The long tee! Oh my gosh I can't get enough of these fantastic shirts. I currently have only two but that will be changing. I will definitely be adding this one to my collection sometime soon. These shirts are beyond comfortable and they are still so stylish at the same time. H & M is definitely my places to go when I want one because they always have the best ones at reasonable prices. There are so many way you can style it and again its COMFY. Who wouldn't want that in there life. I know I do!
